St. Mark's Lion in red Verona marble, completely worked and sculpted by hand, a wonderful bas-relief depiction of the Serenissima from Venice. Provenance Venice, private collection. The exceptional quality and incomparable workmanship of the sculpture are unquestionable. The details are depicted with absolute precision and mastery, meticulous work that has led to the work being defined and completed in an extraordinary manner. An added value is the type of marble used, which in this work has an uncommon veining. Beautiful is the lion's mane, as well as the wings, the gospel engraved with the classic Latin phrase that translated means “Peace be with you, Mark, my Evangelist”. Overall, it is well-proportioned in size, not excessive in weight. Phenomenal when hung on the wall, with the use of a few irons (preferably old ones), but it can also stand comfortably on top of a hard surface and lean against it. In conclusion, it is a Marble Favourite, refined and elegant but at the same time powerful, muscular and proud. It is in perfect condition, completely intact in all its parts.
