Eastern Han dynasty (AD 25-220)
The candle holder is modelled as a corpulent figure kneeling and holding a child with both arms flung out. The head is supporting a tall cylindrical vessel. The face of the larger figure has foreign features with a large nose, grinning mouth, high arched eyebrows and deep-set eyes. The green glaze has extensive areas of iridescence.
