A small eightteenth century

A small eightteenth century "butte" box made in Hindeloopen in Friesland.


A butte. Long 18 cm.Wide 10 cm. High 10 cm. Painted on all sides with typical Hindeloopen figures like flowers, and several birds. On the bottom a geometrical circle and the initials "I.H.". In mint condition with minor signs of use. Friesland around 1750. Small buttes are rare.

A rare 17th century iron plier for making lead bullets.


A plier. Overall length 55 cm. Made of cast iron. The plier is devised for making lead bullets. On the inside 12 round compartments with an opening on the upside. Melted lead was poured into the opening and thus a dozen of bullets were made. A very rare item dating back to the seventeenth century and in mint condition.

An eightteenth century oakwood schoolbox with initials WBM from the province of Zeeland.


A schoolbox. Long 50 cm. Wide 27 cm. Deep 10 cm. From the province of Zeeland. Made of oak. In front the initials "WBM". In pristine condition. Schoolboxes from Zeeland are rare and entirely different from the much more common Frisian boxes. Oakwood is predominant whereas the Frisian boxes are made of sapwood. The hinges are nicely forged. The box only opens half when the lid is lowered. Rare and in mint condition. Made around 1750.

An early eightteenth century box with "Wismuth Malerei".


A painted wooden box. Long 30 cm. Wide 17 cm. High 8 cm. This oval box from Southern Germany is painted with typical "Wismuth Malerei". Featuring a red and a blue tulip. The box is in mint condition. No damages, repairs or restorations. Especially the very attractive  vivid colour is very well preserved.

A seventeenth century dental extraction forceps.


A dental forceps. Length 11 cm. Lightly serrated beak. Both handles decorated with a brass stud. An exactly identical forceps is shown on page 51 in Elisabeth Bennions book "Antique Dental Instruments". The forceps on that page belongs to the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford and is dated around 1700. The forceps is in pristine condition with signs of use. It is extremely rare.

An early seventeenth century ointment jar marked "Paris" and found in an excavation in Amsterdam in 1962.


An ointment jar. High 4,5 cm. Diameter 4,5 cm. On the jar a text: " Chardin Hajaureu 1 P.f.m. Pont St.Michel Paris ". This jar was, according to an attached label, found at an early seventeenth century excavation site near the "Rechtboomssloot" in Amsterdam along with several white Delft jars in 1962. The jar is, considering its age, in a remarkably good condition. i
